Lester R. Desmond, a 44 year resident of Needham, died on Tuesday November 18, 2008 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was 83 years old. Mr. Desmond grew up in Weston and Newton and was a graduate of Newton High School. He was a US Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II. After the war, Lester graduated from Coyne Electrical School. He was a member of IBEW Local 103 for over 50 years. He retired at the age of 66. Mr. Desmond was a member of American Legion Post 440 in Newton. The beloved husband for 61 years of Pauline (Walker) Desmond of Needham, he was the loving father of Elizabeth L. “Betsy” Desmond of Wellesley. Grandfather of William Desmond Forman of Wellesley. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday, November 21 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-7 PM. Interment at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Needham.
