GLOUCESTER: Avis L. (Doucette) Brackett, 89, of 31 Prospect Street, died Monday, November 17, 2008 in the Golden Living Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Herman L. Brackett.
Born in Lynn on March 8, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mildred (Weston) Doucette. Avis was employed at Gorton’s of Gloucester for many years before her retirement in 1975. She enjoyed playing bingo and shopping and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lois A. and Matthew G. Hartford, a son, Robert L. Brackett all of Gloucester, a brother, Frederick and his wife, Jacqueline Doucette, three grandchildren, Melanie L. LeBlanc and her husband, Steven G. LeBlanc, Jr., Melissa L. Amero and her husband, Keith Amero and Ashley Brackett and two great-grandchildren, Brianna G. LeBlanc and Steven G. LeBlanc all of Gloucester.
Her funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the family, c/o Melanie LeBlanc, 9 Carlisle St., Gloucester.
