Obituary

Salem: Raymond J. Boucher, age 76 of Salem, died October 31, 2008 at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home, following a long illness. He was the son of the late Octave and Marie Louise (Paquet) Boucher.

Born and raised in Salem, Ray served as a first class gunners mate with the US Army, at the close of World War II. Following his tour of duty with the Army, he joined the Coast Guard and served in Viet Nam and Alaska. He retired from the Coast Guard with 20 years service and later worked as a security guard for Shetland Park in Salem.

Ray’s hobbies were reading and fishing. Prior to his illness, he was a member of the Palmer Cove Yacht Club of Salem.

He is survived by 2 brothers, Edgar Boucher and his wife Emily of Salem, Richard A. Boucher and his wife Janice of Salem, 2 sisters, Madeleine Michaud of Beverly and her husband Lionel Michaud, Noella LaChance of Salem. Ray is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Jean Paul, George H., Martial and Jean Marie Boucher and a sister Irene Provost.
