WORCESTER- Alec A. Melkonian, 37, of Worcester, died Tuesday, November 18 in UMASS Hospital. He leaves a brother Charles A. Melkonian of Worcester; two sisters, Mara M. and her husband Gary Dix of Jefferson and Sharistan A. and her husband Ivan Ardhaldjian of Waltham; nieces and nephews, Karina C. Levesque, Zachary A. Harvard, Nairi and Shane Melkonian, Ardavasad Ardhaldjian; two grand nephews, Atraeyu M. Norris and John M. Melkonian. He also leaves three aunts, M. Rose Varteresian, Anna Lemelin, Agnes Melkonian and two uncles Edward Varteresian and David Davidian and his god parents Ara and Virginia Shrestinian, many cousins and friends. He was born in Worcester, son of John H. and Alice (Shrestinian) Melkonian and was a member of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Alec was an avid bowler and bocci player and regularly participated in the Special Olympics.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21st at 10:00 AM in the Armenian Apostolic Holy Trinity Church,635 Grove St., Worcester. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill. Visiting hours are Thursday, November 20 from 5-8 PM in CALLAHAN & FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle St., Worcester. A Dahngark Service will be held during visiting hours.
