Dembeck, Erna L. age 78 a longtime resident of Oradell, NJ passed to her home on high on Monday, November 17, 2008 at Holy Name Hospital ICU, at her side was her husband, her 6 children and several of her grandchildren. Born in Jersey City on January 1, 1930, Erna was the daughter of August Trucksess and Erna A. Kern, her parents predeceased her as did her sister Mildred Malloy. She is survived by her husband Warren, sons Steven of Oradell, Dennis and his wife Amy of Middletown, NY, Mark and his wife Donna of New Milford, NJ, and Scott and his wife Nancy of Westwood, NJ, her daughter Deborah Simmons of Lakeland, FL, and Diane Astarita and her husband Andrew of River Edge, NJ. She was a grandmother to 10 granddaughters, Jennifer, Joelle, Jessica, and Jamie Simmons, Alyson and Alycia Astarita, Kira, Ashley, Victoria, and Amanda Dembeck and 6 grandsons, Michael, Matt and Mark Simmons, Dylan and Mark Dembeck, and Joseph Astarita. She is also survived by her 5 great-granddaughters Cheyenne and Savannah Richardson, Kaitlyn Williams, Jordan and Brianna Simmons and 5 great-grandsons Stephen Richardson, David and Christopher Simmons, Zachary Williams and Sean Johnson. Erna was also involved in the Oradell Little League for several years and also Oradell Babe Ruth. She was Worthy Matron of Oradell Chapter #261, Welcome Chapter #185 and affiliated past matron of the above and also Temple #62 and Tilden #59 of the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey. Funeral service Friday 10:30AM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Muscular Dystrophy are appreciated by the family.
