Mr. Peter Caraganis, 93, of Norridge, Illinois passed away Tuesday, November 11th at the Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago.
He was born August 28, 1915 in Lowell, Massachusetts, a son of the late Louis and Christina (Sigalos) Caraganis. A resident of Lowell for many years, he was educated through the Lowell schools.
While in the Lowell area, he worked as a Food inspector for fruits and vegetables in Boston. In 1951, he moved to Chicago with his family and began work as a superintendent for U.S. Rubber, after the company's closing he worked with heavy equipment for Johnson Paving in Chicago up until his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mrs. Mary (Rabias) Caraganis of Illinois; a son, Lewis Caraganis and his wife, Jacki of Illinois; a brother, Evan Caraganis of Chelmsford; a brother-in-law, Nicholas Rabias; a sister-in-law, Harriet Anagnostopoulos and her husband, George, all of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by seven siblings.
Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Tuesday from 4 pm to 8 p.m. His funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with services at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell at 10 a.m. Interment in Westlawn Cemetery II, Lowell.
