Obituary

SALEM, NH – Maurice J. Doyle, Jr., 67 died Friday November 14, 2008 at his home in Salem, NH.

Born in and educated in Methuen the son of Maurice J. Doyle, Sr., and Doris (Brodie), he graduated Tenny High School with the Class of 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged. A Methuen native, he was a sports star in baseball and basket ball. He was courted by scouts from eight major-league baseball teams and signed on with the Houston Colt 45’s, now known as the Houston Astros of the National League. He attended and graduated from the Culinary Institute of New Hampshire and began his career in the food service business. For many years he was a food service director for ARA . He was later involved in the Olympics and the Pan Am games as a food supervisor, teaching chefs about what foods to serve and planned the menus.

In 1976 he was resposible for the food service for the Olympics in Plattsburg, New York.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Lawrence, MA. He enjoyed traveling which included a trip across the country with his family in 1986.

He leaves his wife of 40 years Beatrice P. (Geoffroy) of Salem, NH. Children Steven J. Doyle and his wife Jeanette of Leominster, MA, Marc J. Doyle and his wife Sheelah of Winter Springs, FL, Shawn R. Doyle and his wife Kimberly of Manchester, NH and Christopher J. Doyle of Orlando, FL.
1 brother George E. Doyle and his wife Nancy of Walpole, MA.
Grandchildren Kyle, Erin, Ryan, Camryn, Cody, Meaghyn, Shaynah and Allyson.
Several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street Framingham, MA 01701-9376. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00p.m. – 8:00p.m. at the Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Salem, NH. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chelmsford, MA.
