AUGUSTA, GA - Shirley A. Ledbetter, daughter of Alex Norman (A.N.) and Aleen King, entered into rest Friday, November 14, 2008 at her residence.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Whole Life Ministries 2621 Washington Rd with her pastor, Dr. Sandra G. Kennedy officiating.
A graduate of The Academy of Richmond County, Miss Ledbetter went on to complete her undergraduate studies at Truett McConnell and post graduate work at Georgia Southern University. She continued by earning her Master and Specialist degrees at Augusta State University.
An educator with the Richmond County Board of Education, she served as a teacher, assistant principal and concluded her career as principal at Lake Forest Elementary.
Immediately following her retirement in 1990, Shirley joined the staff of Whole Life Ministries as Dean of Christian Life School of Theology, a branch of Beacon University of Columbus, Georgia where she also served on the Board of Directors.
Shirley was one of God’s greatest gifts … an Educator. She instilled knowledge, imparted wisdom, and yet she remained understanding. She always challenged us to go the distance, searching for the deep things of God. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Ledbetter is survived by her “Adopted” family: Cindy Jones, her best friend and house mate, Ray Jones and Billie Jones all of Augusta ; Dale and Renee Deese, Dayla Deese and Stephanie Deese and her finance’, Matthew Lee, all of Carrollton, GA; and her lifelong friend, Betty Inglett of Augusta, and her family, Terry Inglett of Augusta, JoAnne Craft of Pawley’s Island, SC ,Carol Evans of Greenville, SC., Billy Inglett of Modoc, SC ; her church family at Whole Life Ministries and her three canine children, Dudley, Darby and Darcy.

The family will receive friends at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Sunday, November 16th from 5 to 7 PM
