Florence L. (Breton) DeMello, 87, of Wareham, formerly of New Bedford, died November 15, 2008 at Forestview Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late John C. Mello.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph and Merilda (Menard) Breton, she lived in New Bedford most of her life and wintered in Naples, Florida. She resided at the Grinnell Mansion in New Bedford before moving to Wareham in July.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, bingo and trips to Foxwoods.
Survivors include two sons, Stephen N. DeMello and his wife Carmen of Port St. Lucie, FL and Stanley R. DeMello of Naples, FL; two daughters, Barbara J. Collard and her husband Richard A. of New Bedford and Sandra L. Belson of East Wareham; a brother, Charles Breton of Dayville, CT; eight grandchildren, including Donna DeMello and her husband David who were her special caretakers; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Edgar Breton, Rhea Garland, and Beatrice Souza.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
