James F. West, Jr., 74 years, of Brockton, died November 13, 2008 at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Delaney) West. Born in Boston, son of the late James F. and Dorothy (McLaughlin) West, Jim was a 1953 graduate of Hyde Park High School. He had been employed for more than 30 years by New England Telephone as a TAG manager. He had been retired for the past 23 years and in his retirement enjoyed giving and doing for others. Jim was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Council, Prolife Committee and had been a CCD teacher at the church for many years. He was also a member of the War Memorial Committee, Ireland’s Own, Knights of Columbus Seville Council, Telephone Pioneers and had been a campaign manager for Joe Moakley. He was also an avid Red Sox fan.
He was the father Paula Kiernan and her husband Richard of Bellingham, Betsy West and her companion George Brown of Middleboro, Carol Lescarbeau and her fiancé Richard Vickery of Marion, Danny West of Brockton and the late James F. West, III. He is survived by ten grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother George West and his wife Barbara of Stoughton and a sister Helen J. McNally of Sanbornville, NH. He was the longtime loving companion of the late Nancy Niccoli.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday at 8am. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial in Melrose Cemetery. Visiting Hours Sunday 3-7pm.
