Ruth G. (Glennon) Weaver, 87, of New Bedford died November 14, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Lawrence A. Weaver.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late William J. and Genevieve R. (Vanni) Glennon, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Weaver was an active communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church where she volunteered in various fundraising activities such as bingo, street fairs and cake sales. She was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her years of service to her parish. She was a charter member and past president in 1973 and 1974 of St. Julie's Ladies Guild, a member and past treasurer of the New Bedford Catholic Womens Club and a charter member of Junior Daughters of Isabella.
Mrs. Weaver was formerly employed by New Bedford Gas and Edison from 1941 to 1953 in the Electrical Engineering Department and later worked at New Bedford Woods Hole Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Steamship Authority in the Auditing Department retiring in 1960.
She was a graduate of Holy Family High School, class of 1938 and Kinyon Business School, class of 1940.
Her family wishes to thank her caregivers, Georgina Marabuto, Betty Magan and Fatima Lopes for their kind services.
Survivors include her cousin, Edward C. Michaud, D.D.S. of Weston, MA and his children Edward Michaud, Jr., M.D. and Sylvia Michaud; her godchildren, Deborah G. Synnott and Patricia G. Synnott; her close friends, the Synnott and Bastoni families.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Monday, November 17th at 10 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday, November 16th from 2-5 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Rev. John Hogan Scholarship Fund, attn. Atty.
