Cruz M. Rodriguez, age 81 of Lowell, died Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Lowell General Hospital after a long illness. For 59 years, he was the loving husband of Carmen L. (Zayas) Rodriguez.
He was born in Puerto Rico on May 3, 1927, the son of the late Juan Bautista and Fermina (Moralez) Rodriguez. Cruz was a resident of Lowell for the past 15 years and was formerly from The Bronx, New York for many years.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a waiter with the Friars Club in Manhattan for many years. Cruz was well known for his excellent sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his seven children, Jose Rodriguez of Boston, Edilberto Rodriguez of the Bronx, Adawilda Rodriguez of Lowell, Nancy Rodriguez of Lowell, Manuel Rodriguez of Nashua, Edwin Rodriguez and Melissa Pettit, both of Lowell; a sister, Antonia Rodriguez; also 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Thursday, Nov. 13 from 4 to 8pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Patrick Church. Interment in Westlawn II Cemetery.
