Raymond O. Schnare, 84, of Wayside Road, died Monday, April 21, in Saint Vincent’s Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, Kathleen (Hopkins) Schnare; three sons, David F. Schnare of Spencer; Douglas R. Schnare of Worthington, John C. Schnare of Holden; a daughter, Sharon Schnare of Groton, CT; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Five sisters, a brother, and a granddaughter predeceased him.
Mr. Schnare was born in Worcester, son of Kelvie L. and E. Louisa (Fanjoy) Schnare. He attended Worcester schools.
He was part owner and manager of Northboro Lumber Co. for many years. He later owned and managed L & R Sales, Worcester. He was a supply sergeant in the U.S. Army for 3 ½ years in World War II, serving in Newport, RI and later in Ledo Assam, India. Mr. Schnare loved to garden, listen to music, and play the harmonica.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, at Nordgren Memorial Chapel (NordgrenMemorialChapel.com). Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the funeral home.
