Obituary

John S. Maduro, Jr., 78, of West Wareham died November 12, 2008 at Tremont Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of Janice E. (Menard) Maduro and the late Adelaide (Andrade) Maduro.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John S. and Maria D. (Franco) Maduro and the late Ermelinda (Franco) Maduro, he lived in New Bedford most of his life until moving to Wareham in 2002.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Wareham.
Mr. Maduro was formerly employed by Morse Twist Drill for 37 years until his retirement. He had been a part-time Dartmouth special police officer at Lincoln Park.
Mr. Maduro served in the Army National Guard for 27 years and was called up to active duty in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis. He was a member of American Legion in Dartmouth. He was an avid bowler.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Maureen Martins and her husband Manuel Jr. of Dartmouth; a brother, Francisco Maduro of Westport; three grandchildren, Eric Martins and his wife Sarah, Paul Martins, and Monica Martins; a great-granddaughter, Hailey; and a niece and a nephew.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6) Mattapoisett Monday, November 17th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church, Wareham at 9 AM. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday, November 16th from from 4-8 PM.
