SALEM - Agnes E. (Wilkinson) Richard, 88, wife of the late Leo J. Richard, Sr., of Peabody, formerly of Salem, died October 29, 2008 at her home following a short illness.
Born in Newburyport, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. & Agnes E. (Swanson) Wilkinson and was a resident of Salem for most of her life.
During the late 1960's and 70's, Mrs Richard was employed as a head hostess/Manager at the Hawthorne Hotel. She was a former trustee of the Plummer Home and was a member of the Salem Council on Aging. She was a member of the Cape Ann Bible Church, Gloucester, for many years and has been a resident of the Brooksby Village, Peabody, for the past 6 years.
Mrs. Richard is survived by three sons, Glen W. Dow of Newburyport, Leo J. Richard, Jr. Of Amesbury, Gary P. Richard of Danvers, six grandchildren, Glen W. Dow, Jr., Eric P. Richard, Gary J. Richard, Jeffrey C. Richard, Deanna Eastman and Drusilla L. Redmond, four great grandchildren, one sister, Helen Crompton of Newburyport and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a dear friend, Martin Grasso of Peabody, and Ann Petitti of Dracut, whom Mrs. Richard looked upon as a daughter. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ernest Dow and was the sister of the late George Wilkinson, Florence Alley and Barbara Boyd.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 10:30 am at the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Brooksby Village Drive, Peabody and will be celebrated by her pastor, Rev. Robert Jarvis.
