Douglas A. Brisson, 82, of Hooksett died November 11, 2008 at Concord Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Manchester on January 31, 1926, he was the son of Wilfred and Elizabeth (Dallaire) Brisson. He lived in Hooksett most of his life.
During World War II he served in the US Navy.
Mr. Brisson worked at R.G. Sullivan Company and as a tool and dye maker for many years.
He coached boys basketball and served on the board of directors of the Hooksett Youth Athletic Association. He volunteered at the South Hooksett Fire Department before and after becoming disabled. He also volunteered at many Hooksett area functions and as a driver for cancer patients to visit their doctors.
Mr. Brisson was a member of the American Legion in Hooksett and the Paraplegic Veterans Association. He was an avid fisherman and fly tyer and a maker of leather crafts. He was also a gourmet cook.
The family includes his wife of 61 years, Matilda “Dorothy” (Felix) Brisson of Hooksett; two children, Susan D. Masewic of Manchester and Thomas D. Brisson of Hooksett; five granddaughters; a brother, Emile Brisson of Manchester; two sisters, Lorraine Bocash of Goffstown and Eva Therriault of Bedford; cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, November 15, 2008 at St. Catherine Church, corner of Webster and Hemlock streets, Manchester. Burial was private and at the convenience of the family at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
