Obituary

LOWELL—William J. Lyons, 81 years old, a lifelong resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell, died Sunday morning, November 9th, at Willow Manor. He was the husband of Theresa ‘Terry’ (Conley) Lyons.

He was born in Lowell, on March 22, 1927, a son of the late John and Louise (Flaherty) Lyons, and was a graduate of Lowell Public Schools and the Lowell Vocational School, where he received a certificate in graphic communications.

Mr. Lyons had been employed for over 44 years as Printer by the Courier Citizen Corporation, until his retirement.

He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and a life member of the Lowell Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed playing golf and racquet ball, and vacationing with his family on Cape Cod.

Surviving him besides his wife of 52 years are three daughters and two sons-in-law: Linda Mastas, of Lowell; Gail and Andy Marchand, of Hudson, NH; and Nancy and Bill Myers, of Lowell; two grandsons: Matthew and Timothy Mastas; a nephew: Richard O’Malley, III, of Maine; a sister-in-law: Doris Welcome, of Lowell; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mary Louise O’Malley.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass to be offered on Wednesday morning at 9 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Private committal. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
