Obituary

Sidney Goldman of Swampscott and formerly of Chelsea died on November 9, 2008 at the Salem Hospital. He was 91 years old. Sidney was the beloved husband of Ruth Cooper Kane Goldman.

Sidney was born in Chelsea and attended the Chelsea schools, graduating Chelsea High School Class of 1935. Sidney was a World War Two Army Veteran including special commendation in 1945. He was a Driver for the MBTA for 31 years and was a Bus Driver for the Chelsea Public Schools for 11 years where he was loved by the children. Sidney enjoyed film and movies, was an avid reader, and loved to socialize and sunbathe on Revere Beach. He also loved telling war stories.

Sidney was the dear brother of Ruth Brody and the late David Goldman and his wife Mildred. He was the devoted stepfather of Richard Kane and his wife Launa Zimmaro, and Laurie Burkhardt and her husband James. Sidney was the loving grandfather of Sara and Jack Burkhardt. He was the loving uncle of Bruce Goldman & Michael Goldman.

Services at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave. (Cary Sq.) Chelsea on Tuesday, November 11 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Everett. Memorial observance at the Summit Estates, Community Building (first building on left), 1000 Paradise Road, Swampscott, MA on Tuesday following interment until 4:00 PM and Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
