Obituary

John James Moore, 81 years, of Brockton, died peacefully November 7, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Born August 16, 1927 in Brockton, son of the late John and Lillian (Lupian) Moore. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1945, the Phillips School of Design and Drafting and the Davenport School of Plumbing. He served in World War II and in Korea. He was a Master Pipe Fitter and a member of Local No. 276 in Brockton. John worked for the City of Brockton as a Plumbing and Gas Inspector, Superintendant of Sewers and later as Building Commissioner, retiring in 1994. He was a generous and devoted husband, father, friend and family member and was admired and treasured by all who knew him. His passions were his family, his friendships and his home. He was also an avid golfer. He truly enjoyed the simple pleasures of holding his wife’s hand, bird watching, reading a good book, a crossword puzzle or a game of cards.

He is survived by his beloved wife Yolanda (Capachione) Moore and their five children Nancy Buckley, John Moore and his wife Harriet, Janey Martin and her husband Mitchell, Paul Moore and his wife Jessica and Marie Waters and her husband James. He was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Daniel, Emily, Evan, Zachary and Alivia. Brother of Kathleen Buckley and Theresa Venuto. He will be missed by an adoring extended family.

Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Parish/St. Edward Church at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the Nursing staff at Brockton Hospital, Dr. Edward Frecerro, Dr. Francis Frecerro and Dr. James Gilbert. Donations can be made in John’s name to the Brockton Hospital Foundation Nurses’ Day 2009, 680 Centre Street, Brockton, MA 02302.
