Boston-Bernardo Sousa aged 59 years died November 6th at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Margarida (Pires) Sousa of New Bedford. He was the loved father of David and his wife Lauri Sousa of New Bedford. Bernardo was the brother of Maria Nichols of Dartmouth, Isabel Tavares of New Bedford and brother of the late Ronaldo Sousa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sousa was the son of the late Joao and Maria Gloria (Lima) Sousa. Born in Rosaria Lagoa, São Miguel, Açores, he has lived in New Bedford since 1977 and worked at Brittany Dye. He was a member of the Teamster’s Union Local 59.
Mr. Sousa’s Funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Monday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-7 P.M.
