Obituary

SALEM- Frank A. Goodhue, 81, husband of Frances R. (Berry) Goodhue, of Salem, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at the Salem Hospital after being stricken at his home.

Born in Beverly, he was the son of the late John A. & Marion (Burns) Goodhue Leach and step-son of the late Eugenia (Hopping) Goodhue. He was a graduate of Beverly High School in 1939.

An army Air Force veteran of WWII, he served with the 268th AAF Base Unit in England and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Prior to his retirement in the mid 1980's, Mr. Goodhue was employed for over 40 years at the United Shoe Machine Corp in Beverly.

A resident of Salem since 1947, he was a member of Starr King Lodge, AF & AM of Salem and a former member of the VFW in Beverly.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, he is survived by one son, Frank A. Goodhue, Jr., of Agoura Hills, California, one daughter, Ruth Ann Goodhue of Salem, one sister, Geraldine Riopel of Scarborough, Maine and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one sister, Elinor Poirier and one brother, Eugene Goodhue.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 11 am at the Grace Church, 385 Essex St., Salem. The Grace church is located almost directly across from the Salem Public Library, a few buildings toward the intersection of Flint and Essex Streets. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Christine A. Ruane Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o 19 Nursery St., Salem, MA 01970.
