Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Louise (Roberts) Searcy, 86 years of age, of Overlook Avenue, West Gloucester, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 5th, 2008. She was the wife of the late William T. Searcy, who died in December of 1984.
Louise was born in the Woodman home in Essex during a blizzard on April Fool’s Day 1922. She was the daughter of the late Weymouth A. and Etta Irene (Sponagle) Roberts.
Louise worked in food services throughout her life. She ran the snack bars at the former S. S. Kresge’s and North Shore Theater. Affectionately known as “Tall Louise,” she waitressed at many local establishments including Ra-Joe’s, Marion’s Lobsta Land, and Maria’s Pizza. She loved cooking, especially preparing Sunday dinners for her entire family. She really enjoyed spending special times with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as they filled her life with joy.
She is survived by her four children, John E. Mulcahey, Jr. and his wife Ann (Frontierro); Sharon L. (Mulcahey) Martin and her husband Wayne A.; Diane E. (Mulcahey) Juden and her husband Daniel C., all of Gloucester and Terry W. Souza and companion Shirley Ann Lynah of Davenport, Florida.; her brother Stanley W. Roberts, six grandchildren J. Michael Mulcahey; Bridgette (Mulcahey) Mathews; Colleen (Martin) Moceri; Wendy Anne Juden all of Gloucester, and Daniel C. Juden, Jr. and John “Jay” Juden of Saugus; her eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Doris I. (Roberts) and Martin J. Murray.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday at the Trinity Congregational Church, UCC, 70 Middle Street, Gloucester at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 to 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the VNA Care Network, 5 Federal St., Danvers, MA 01923.
