Obituary

DRACUT - Walter J. Wojcik, 88, a longtime Dracut resident died Monday evening in the Westford House Nursing Care Center. He was the beloved husband of Clarine M. "Carol" (Gingras) Wojcik for 64 years.

Born in Lowell on November 24, 1919, he was a son of the late Frank and Apolonia (Sorota) Wojcik. He received his education in the St. Stanislaus School and the former Lowell Trade School.

An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during World War II as an Airplane Line Chief in the Army of the United States serving in the Pacific Theater.

In his early years Mr. Wojcik worked with his father operating Frank Wojcik and Sons in Lowell. More recently and until the time of his retirement in 1983 he was a member of the New England Carpenters Union Local 49.

He was a communicant of the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity in Lowell. HE was also a member of the Polish Alliance and the PAV in Lowell.

In his free time he enjoyed gardening, playing cribbage and time spent in the company of his family. He also enjoyed bowling on leagues at Brunswick Lanes in Lowell.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son Stanley Wojcik of Dracut; three daughters Marcia Katsirebas and her husband Ken of Bedford, NH, Barbara Picard of Groton and Carol Nowak of Hudson, NH; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister Helen Ferris and her husband Milton of Wakefield, RI; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Sandra and Stanley Wojcik.

Friends may call at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Thursday from 3 until 7 PM. His Funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday at 9 AM followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in Holy Trinity Church, Lowell. Interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
