Carmelo “Carmen” Carcia, 85 of Medford, died Monday after a long illness in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Melrose, MA.
Born in Italy, he lived in Medford for the past 20 years and formerly of Somerville. Carmelo was the son of the late Francesca (Caminita) and Girolomo Carcia. Mr. Carcia was an Iron Worker at Caputo Iron Works in Somerville for 32 years and retired in 1971. He also was a member of the Marinai D’Italia and the Sons of Italy in Arlington. Beloved husband of Francesca (Caminita) Carcia. Devoted father of Paula Tumber and her husband Wayne of Sagamore Beach, Adriana Salerno and her husband Michael of Salem, NH. Also survived by 5 loving grandchildren, 5 loving great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St., MEDFORD Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church 12 Properzi Way Somerville at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-9. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
