Obituary

Jennifer M. McLaughlin, 24, of 114 Elm St., formerly of Spencer, died peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 1st while attending a business conference in Nevada.
She leaves her parents, Paul E. and Mary E. (Shepard) McLaughlin of
Spencer, her fiance Ryan T. Wartman of Marlborough, two brothers Jeremy P. McLaughlin and his fiancé Pamela Goodman, both living in Monterey, CA, Shawn H. McLaughlin currently serving on the USS Mt. Whitney, and sister Kim M. McLaughlin of San Diego, CA. She also leaves behind her maternal grandmother Lorraine M. Shepard of Gardner, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jennifer began work this year for Hologic Inc., in Marlborough as a biomedical engineer. Previously, she worked at Innovative Spinal Technologies in Mansfield for 2 years where she was responsible for developing two patents in the medical field.
Born in Worcester, and raised in Spencer, she graduated with honors and
was a "White Sweater" recipient from David Prouty High School, Class of
2002. There she lettered and captained the Varsity Soccer and Basketball teams and was an all-star member of the Varsity Spring Track team. She graduated in 2006 from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester where she was captain of the Women's Varsity Crew team for two years and a member of the Varsity Women's Swim team. She was also a member of Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority and the Society of Women Engineers.
Beginning in fall 2007, she became a volunteer coach for the
Attleboro Youth Soccer League.
Jen had a love for all sports and the outdoors. She was full of life and energy and had a constant smile on her face. She was a die hard Patriots fan and a caring mother to her pug, Chloe, and cat, Brady. Jen always loved to be surrounded by friends and family.
She was a member of Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Nov. 7th at the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Mary Queen of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are Thursday, Nov 6th. from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made out to WPI Crew and sent to Mary and Paul McLaughlin, 47 Oakland Drive, Spencer, MA 01562. All contributions will go towards the purchase of a new shell for the WPI Women’s Crew team to be named after Jennifer.
