Kathleen J. Galligan, 88, died peacefully on November 2, at Mystic Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing, leaving behind her husband of sixty-five years, Robert L. Galligan.
Mrs. Galligan, a resident of Rockaway, N.J for over fifty years, retired from her position with Robert Catlin and Associates in 1999, at the age of 79. She and her husband moved to Mystic in early 2007 and resided at Academy Point in Mystic. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind four children and their spouses: Louise and Bill Hoffman of Mystic, Monica and David Natwig of Acton, MA, Michael and Leslie Galligan of Rockaway, NJ, and Jeffrey and Mary Galligan of Houston, TX. She will also be lovingly remembered by ten grand children and step-grandchildren, three grandchildren by marriage and six great-grandchildren who all knew her as "Mimi".
Mimi was deeply loved as wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother and her influence will live with us always. Her family was her joy in life; she taught each one of us the meaning of unconditional love.
A funeral Mass, followed by interment, will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, in Mystic, at 1:00PM on Monday, November 10. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, please consider requesting masses in Mimi's memory at either St. Patrick's, Mystic or St. Cecelia's RC Church on Church Street in Rockaway, NJ, or making a donation in her memory to the Mystic & Noank Library, 40 Library St., Mystic. Mimi's entire family wishes to thank Mystic Manor and Hospice of SECT for their loving and tender ministrations to her.
