Obituary

New Bedford – Robert M. “Bob” Geier, 68, of Acushnet died after a long illness on November 1, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the spouse of Jim Coutinho.

Mr. Geier was born in Acushnet, son of the late Max and Louise C. (Perry) Geier, and was a lifelong resident of the town. He was employed as a guidance counselor at the Ford Middle School until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Bristol County Retired Teachers Assn., the Moose Lodge Chapter 914 of New Bedford, treasurer of A.I.D.S. Inc. for 18 years, chairperson of the Acushnet Historical Commission, and co-chairperson for the Walk on Aids. He enjoyed traveling and photography but he derived the most pleasure from entertaining his family.

In addition to his spouse, he is survived by 3 nieces: Lindy Lou Jenkins of Fairhaven, Cindy Lou Barbash of Shrewsbury, MA and Debra A. Jorge of E. Freetown; a nephew: Jeffrey Jenkins of Leominster, MA; and his beloved cat: Mut.

He was brother of the late Betty L. Jenkins and uncle of the late Stephen C. Jenkins.

Visiting hours on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 P.M.

Funeral services on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Interment in Acushnet Cemetery, Acushnet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to A.I.D.S. Inc., 87 Middle Rd., Acushnet, MA 02743.
