Almira M. Baston of Chester Rd., Derry, NH, went to be with her Lord on April 18, 2003 at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. She was born January 30, 1925 in Farmington, NH, the daughter of Burton W. and Elfreda (Currier) Baston. After high school, she graduated from Providence Bible Institute (now Gordon College), Northwestern College and Plymouth State College, plus advanced studies. She retired from teaching after 35 years, the last in Manchester at the Highland Goffs Falls School, serving also as Assistant Principal. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Derry. She worked several years as the Christian Education Director of New England Fellowship.
Family members include William and Carolyn Baston of North Hadley, MA, Mary Baldarelli of W. Boylston, MA, Donald and Marion Emmett of Norfolk, VA and her extended family, Leona Drew of Derry with whom she made her home, and Lydia Chandler and sons of Manchester, NH.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 20th from 2 - 5 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A service celebrating her Christian faith will be held at the Calvary Bible Church, 145 Hampstead Road, Derry on Monday at 1:30 pm with Pastor Daniel Courter officiating. The burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington on Tuesday, April 22.
