TAUNTON - Maria Jose (Raposo) Bergantim, wife of the late Manuel O. Bergantim, died on Nov. 1, 2008 at the Marian Manor. She was 77.
Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Jose A. and Maria G. (Santos) Raposo.
Educated in Portugal, she moved to the area in 1977.
A communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, she retired from the Rennie Curtain Factory at the age of 63, after working there for over 10 years.
She leaves 5 sons, Norberto, Jorge, Jose, and Fernando Bergantim, all of Taunton, and Joao Bergantim of Easton; 3 daughters, Bertha Valcorba and Ana Moniz, both of Taunton, and Juliana Moniz of E. Taunton; a brother, Norberto Raposo of Fall River; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Wednesday, Nov. 5th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
