Maria do Carmo (Barreira) Sousa, age 81, passed away October 31, 2008. Widow of Umberto Inacio Sousa and daughter of the late Antonio de Sousa Barreira and Maria do Carmo (Carvalho) Barreira.Born in Santo Antonio, Sao Miguel, Azores, she was a Fall River resident since 1960 and was a parishioner of St. Michael Church. She was a retired machine operator last at Anderson Little.
She is survived by 2 children: Charles Souza and his wife Cheryl and Mary Wick and her husband Stephen, all of Fall River; 1 brother: Antone Barreira of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren: Sean Burns, Kelly Rezendes and her husband Derrick and Carla and Seth Souza; 2 great grandchildren: Kaleigh and Nathaniel Rezendes.
Her funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Tuesday at 8 A.M. with a mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 9 A.M.. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 4-8 P.M.
