Jean N. ( Simpson ) Higgins, a fifty year resident of Stoughton, passed away on Thursday October 30, 2008 at The Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was 71 years old. She is survived by her children, John Higgins and his wife Lorienn of Taunton, Richard Higgins of Brockton and James Higgins and his wife Sandra also of Brockton. Jean was also a mother to the late Michael Higgins, a grandmother to the late Richie Higgins and Ashley Higgins and the former wife of John S. Higgins. Other survivors include 8 grandchildren and several close friends.
Born April 17, 1937 in London England, Mrs. Higgins was the only child of the late Peter Simpson and Nora ( Sullivan ) Simpson. She attended public schools in Ireland and moved to the states after graduating from high school.
Mrs. Higgins graduated from The Catherine Laboure’ School Of Nursing in the late 1970’s. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at The Veteran’s Hospital in Jamaica Plain, MA for over 30 years working in the N.I.C.U. She was also a nurse coordinator for the Kidney Transplant Unit.
She was a communicant and attended The Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton.
Her Funeral Mass will be held on Monday November 3, 2008 at 12:00 NOON in The Immaculate Conception Church, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton. The Pastor Rev. Joseph P. McDermott, officiating. A visiting hour will be held on Monday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 A.M. in The Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Immaculate Conception Church, C/O The Grotto Of The Blessed Virgin Fund, 122 Canton Street, Rt. 27 Stoughton, MA 02072, in Jean’s memory, would be appreciated.
