Delbert E. “Del” Reynolds died Thursday October 30th after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary G. (Reardon) Reynolds.
Born and raised in Arkansas he was the son of the late James and Jewel (Overby) Reynolds. He attended Arkansas schools, earning his Bachelor’s Degree while in college there. After moving to Massachusetts he received his Master’s Degree from Bridgewater State College.
He was an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force having served four years in the early 1960’s.
Del was a forty year resident of Abington and retired teacher of the Abington school system after 30 years. He was a communicant of St. Bridget Church.
He enjoyed dancing and he loved the beach, but his greatest joy came from being a devoted father and grandfather.
He is survived by his son Sean Reynolds and his wife Meemee, and his daughter Michelle Harris and her husband Michael all of Abington, his brother John Reynolds and his sister Rita Young both of IN. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
His services will be held Wednesday November 5th at 8:15 AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9 AM in the St. Bridget Church, Abington. Burial will follow at 11:30 AM in the MA National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday November 4th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
