Neil R. Shorey, 64 of Sherborn and formerly of Medway died October 30 in the Stanley Tippett Home in Needham. He was the husband of Laurie (Foreman) Shorey.
Born in Bangor, Maine, March 24, 1944, the son of the late Ralph Shorey and Elena (Mutch) Shorey-Lindman, he was also the son of the late Alex Lindman.
Mr. Shorey was raised in Veazie, Maine and had lived in Medway for many years prior to moving to Sherborn 27 years ago.
Mr. Shorey was the owner and Sales Representative for Homewares Marketing.
Mr. Shorey enjoyed kayaking and to be at Lead Mountain Pond.
He was a member of the Sherborn Cable Committee. Mr. Shorey had long been active in Scouting in Medway and had mentored 30 boys on to become Eagle Scouts. Neil's family was the most important thing to him and times spent with them were his happiest.
Mr. Shorey was deeply involved with the West Medway Community Church and had served on many committees.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tammi York and her husband, Tim of Newport, Maine, sons, Neil Shorey and his wife, Edie of Amherst, Maine and Todd Shorey of Sherborn.
He is also survived by his sister, Alice Gilbert and her husband, Bill of Fairfield, Maine and was the brother of the late Ruth Shields.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Emily Shorey, Bethany York, and Alyssa Lewis and his great-granddaughter Grace Kelso.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 4 in the Community Church of West Medway at 7:00 p.m.
Burial will be on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in Veazie, Maine.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 5-9 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway.
