Obituary

Marcia Eileen (O’Hearn) Brown, 77, of Medway, died Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home.

Born in Cambridge on November 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Francis A. and Katherine M. (Donovan) O’Hearn. Mrs. Brown was a resident of Medway for the past 3 years and previously resided in North Billerica and Bedford.

She graduated from Arlington High School in 1948 and attended Catherine Gibbs secretarial school and Framingham State Teachers College.

Mrs. Brown had worked for the Town of Lexington’s elder daycare program for many years. She had done secretarial work for a temp agency, worked in medical related manufacturing for both Millipore Corp and Fisons Pharmaceutical, which are both in Bedford, as well as worked at Northeastern University Deans office in Boston. She had also worked at various retail stores and was instrumental in founding the Sundance Youth Group in Bedford and was a devoted mother.

Mrs. Brown enjoyed attending Powwows and other various activities within the Native-American community in Charlemont and also enjoyed singing in the choir for St. Anne Episcopal Church in N. Billerica. She was an avid reader and loved to knit.

She is survived by her children, Russell W. Brown and his wife, Becky of Denham Springs, LA, Kathryn L. Brown of Medway, Carl F. Brown and his wife, Kelly of Jackson, WY and Teresa B. Proctor and her husband, Michael of Medway.

She is also survived by four grandsons; Travis and Lucas Brown and Douglas and Thomas Proctor, three step-grandchildren; Madison, Mason and Marley Blankenship, her former husband, Rev. Richard B. Brown, III of Medway, two nieces and three nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Francis D. O’Hearn, her sister, Anne O’Hearn and her daughter-in-law, Nancy (McMahon) Brown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Monday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, 14 School St. in Medway with a reception immediately following in the church hall. Calling hours will be held on Sunday in the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway from 2-5 p.m.

Interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Arlington at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004.
