Obituary


WORCESTER-Mabel M. “Mae” (Berry) Cicilio, 86, of Worcester, died Wednesday, October 29th in UMass Medical Center. Her husband of 45 years, Anthony M. Cicilio, died in 1996. She leaves a daughter, Marie A. Hackett and her husband Robert of Worcester; a son, John Cicilio and his wife Carol Lizotte of Fairfield, VT; a sister, Grace Fulginiti and her husband, the late Frank Fulginiti of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Robert Berry and his wife Jean and Richard Berry, both of Worcester; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hackett of Worcester and Phylicia, Dominic and Anthony Cicilio of Fairfield, VT; several nephews and nieces. Three sisters, Irene McGee, Beatrice Singer and Dorothy Pogorek and a brother, Edward Berry, predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Stephen and Rella (Mayo) Berry. Mrs. Cicilio was a 1940 graduate of the former High School of Commerce. She was employed by the Worcester School Department for 22 years as a secretary, retiring as Principal Clerk from Sullivan Middle School in 1987 and had previously been employed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare for 14 years as a clerk-stenographer. Mrs. Cicilio was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church and the Massachusetts Retired County and Municipal Employees Association.

The funeral is Saturday, November 1st from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, October 31st from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Hospital Trust, 1 Autumn Street, Boston, MA 02215.
