LOWELL - Edward J. Lisay, Jr., 44, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died unexpectedly Tuesday October 28th at Saints Medical Center in Lowell.
He was born in Lowell on October 17, 1964, and was the son of Edward J.and Cecile A.(Masse) Lisay of Lowell He received his early education in Lowell schools, and was a graduate of Greater Lowell Technical High School in Tyngsboro. Mr. Lisay is an alumnus of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and Middlesex Community College in Bedford, MA. He was a master electrician and holds degrees in business administration and computer science.
Mr. Lisay worked in Alcatel-Lucent's Wireless Quality organization. He had more than 10 years experience in the telecommunications industry. Ed's international assignments included development of software and tools at Bell Labs Ireland and the upgrade of a radio installation on a Caribbean Island.
Ed was the author of several papers published in leading industry forums. He had two articles published in Bell Labs Technical Journal one in 2003 on an Excel VBA application of Hoadley's QMP algorithm and then in 2006 on piecewise analysis and modeling at circuit pack temperature cycling data.
Ed was also the author of the short story "Once A Year" that is published on the Tewksbury Historical Society website.
In his free time, he enjoyed rowing and this past spring he participated in the Dragon Boat races in Boston.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Steven and Catherine Lisay of Hudson, NH; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Whitney of Lowell, Sandra Gervais and her fiance Al Kinney, both of Tyngsboro, and Joyce and George Terris of Tewksbury; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews
Friends may call at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday at 9 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Michael Church in Lowell. Interment in St. Mary Cemetery in Tewksbury.
