Jesup- Mrs. Laura Mae Youngblood Daniel, age 85, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at her residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. She was born in Statesboro, GA on June 7, 1923. Mrs. Daniel was a member of the Jesup First United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member of the Joy Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the “Jet Set”. Mrs. Daniel worked in the family business, Daniel Firestone, with her late husband H.C. “Skeet” Daniel, whom she married on November, 28, 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Youngblood and her brother E.T. Youngblood, Jr. of Douglas, GA.
She is survived by one son, Herschel and wife Gena Daniel of Jesup; three daughters: Louise and husband Allen Robinson of Jesup, Evelyn Rose of Guyton, Dot and husband Bill Harrison of Brunswick; six grandchildren: Leigh Cole, Wes Daniel, Amy Scott, Lindsay Robinson, Austin Rose, and Daniel Harrison; three great grandsons; two sisters: Helen and husband Moffett Kendrick of Greenville, SC, and Mary Virginia Jones of Brunswick.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October, 31, 2008 at 2 pm from the Jesup First United Methodist Church with Reverend Tucker Lewis and Reverend George Moxley officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 pm at the funeral home.
Active Pallbearers will be George Dent, Brad Park, Gary Peel, Mike Harrell, Johnny Wolfe, and Kenny Bryant.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class and the “Jet Set”.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of South Georgia, Building Fund, 117 Drennon Drive, Jesup, GA 31545 or Jesup First United Methodist Church, Handbell Fund, 205 East Cherry Street, Jesup, GA 31546.
