Mrs. Maria A. Romano, 85 of Somerville died Sunday following a brief illness at her daughter’s home in Roslindale. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Romano. Mrs. Romano was born and educated in Italy, the daughter of the late Luigi and Filomena Romano. She was a seamstress, well known for her fancy stitching, sewing, knitting and crocheting. A very family minded woman, she loved to cook and work in her garden. She is well traveled having visited Italy and Argentina with her sons and daughter. She also enjoyed being company on short trips. She is survived by one daughter: Anna Calisi of Roslindale, three sons: Franco Romano of Braintree, Luigi Romano of Malden and Maurizio Romano of Saugus. She also leaves three sisters: Stella Calisi of Somerville, Susan Marcangelo of Burlington and Silvia Romano of Italy. Predeceased by a sister, Angelina Romano. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann Church, 399 Medford Street, Somerville, Thursday at 10 AM.
