Louis L. "Pete" Dumont, 82, of New Bedford died Sunday October 26, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Margaret M. (Brown) Dumont.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Louis and Mary (Fredette) Dumont, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Dumont was formerly employed by Service News and Cape News until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Peter Dumont and his wife Susan of Dartmouth, Diane Wayner of Fairhaven, and Paula White and her husband David of Acushnet; two sisters, Laura Lawless of Dartmouth and Norma McKenna of New Bedford; five grandchildren, Matthew Dumont, Brandon and Jennifer Wayner, and Ian and Shaun White; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet. Burial with military honors will follow in Acushnet Cemetery.
