Dawn Carol (Byington) Roberts, 51, passed away at home on October 27, 2008 surrounded by her loving family, after fighting an almost three year battle with breast cancer.
Dawn was born September 14, 1957 in New London, CT the daughter of the late Francis W. and Pauline Byington. Dawn is survived by her devoted husband, Theodore “Ted” Roberts. They had just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in her favorite place, Disney World, this past spring.
Dawn graduated from Fitch Senior High School and worked for 17 years at Carter Oak Federal Credit Union. She was a gentle and loving person who touched many lives.
Dawn is also survived by her daughter, Kristen Marie Goodwin and her husband Jeff; two precious grandchildren, Roman and Harlow Goodwin, all of Mystic; her sisters, Barbara Weglarz of Essex, JoAnne Faraci of Waterford, Paulette Shinn of Stonington; a niece, several nephews, many special friends; and “the Kids”, Meischa, Leia, Max, and Meow Meow.
Dawn’s family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-7pm. The family will gather privately on Thursday for a service and burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New London.
In lieu of flowers and food, donations in Dawn’s name may be made to American Cancer Society Relay for Life, N.L. County Shoreline, 106 Rte. 32 , Franklin, CT 06254 (Team: Chelsea-Groton), or Hospice, 227 Dunham St., Norwich CT 06360.
