Francis A. Butkiewicus,82, of 506 Stafford St. in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester, died Monday, Oct. 27 at his home.
He was the husband of Dorothy M. (Pollack) Butkiewicus who died in 1993. He leaves two sons Robert F. Butkiewicus and his wife Patricia of Webster and David A. Butkiewicus and his wife Samantha of Leicester, two daughters Sandra M. Savoie and her husband Thomas of Warwick, R.I., and Susan A. Egan and her husband David of Cherry Valley, a brother Richard Butkiewicus of N.Y., 12 grand children, and a great grandson, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister Irene Janis.
Mr. Butkiewicus was a teacher at Worcester Boys Trade School for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School and received a teaching degree from Fitchburg State College.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Adolph and Lillian (Gunikelli) Butkiewicus and was raised by Adolph and his stepmother Julia Butkiewicus after his mother died at an early age.
Francis served his country during WWII with the Army Corps of Engineers in the occupation of Germany. He was a member of the Mass. Teachers Association and belonged to St. Aloysius-St. Jude Parish. He enjoyed golf, the Red Sox & Patriots and above all, his family.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30 from the MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Aloysius-St. Jude Church, 489 Pleasant St., Leicester. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
