Linda J. (Rogers) White, a resident of Taunton for most of her life, died of pancreatic cancer on Monday, October 27, 2008 at home surrounded by family. She was diagnosed on May 12, 2008. She was 66 years of age. Linda was the wife of the late Anthony J. White, Jr., a Taunton firefighter. Born and educated in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Ferrie) Rogers Enos.
Four years ago, she retired from a state job working with the mentally and physically handicapped at a state-run home in North Dartmouth, a job she loved. Previously, she worked for years at Paul Dever State School until the state placed clients into the community. Other favorite jobs include many years as a hairdresser at Hair Odyssey, Shirley’s Special Effects and Mr. Gill’s. She loved playing bingo and slot machines, viewing Broadway shows, murder mysteries, courtroom dramas and watching The View in addition to just about any bus trip.
Linda will be missed by many friends and family which include three children, Jeffrey M. White, of Taunton, Kimberly A. White of Fall River and Anthony J. White III of New York; an aunt, Lillian Andrews of Taunton; a sister-in-law, Delores Perry and niece, Debra Walker, both of Fall River in addition to many nieces and nephews. She was also pre-deceased by her two brothers, Russell Rogers of Florida and Joseph Rogers of Taunton who died September 27, 2008.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Thursday, Oct. 30th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at the former St. Paul Church, Tremont St. at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
