Mildred Vickers Griffin, 94, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday, October 26 at the Osceola Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Graveside services will be held at 4 PM, Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Griffin was born in November 18, 1913 in Ben Hill County to the late J.M. and Docia Lee Hughes Vickers. She lived in the community most of her life. She was a homemaker and a former cashier for Foodland Grocery Store, the Colonial Store and A&P Grocery. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday school class. Mrs. Griffin was an avid artist. She loved to paint, draw, crochet and make pottery.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her son, Don Griffin of Fitzgerald; sister-in-law, Doris Vickers of Brunswick as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James G. Griffin and a brother, Maxwell Vickers.
