Neil P. Brennan, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died suddenly at Letterkenny Hospital in Letter, Clonmany,County Donegal,Ireland. He was 69 years old;.
Neil was born in Boston on May 17, 1939. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1957. He enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1958 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his discharge, Neil began working as a longshoreman on the Boston waterfront and retired in 2005. Neil also worked for many years with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and retired in 1998. Neil was a member of The Halligan Club, Bunker Hill Council # 62, K of C,and The Old Charlestown Schoolboys Association.
Neil is the former husband and dearest friend of Frances "Pauline" (McLaughlin). He is the beloved father of Kathleen Doran and her husband Jim of Lynn, Somerville Police Sgt. Neil P. Brennan and his wife Julie of Reading, Christine Levesque and her husband Peter of New Hampshire. He is the loving grandfather of Joe, Kelly, Neil, CharlieLynn, Camdyn, Brennan and Jason. He is the devoted brother of Anne Vesperi of Charlestown, Mary Rudder of Marshfield and Joseph Brennan of Norwell.
Neil's Funeral will be held on Monday October 27, 2008 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be on Sunday October 26, 2008 from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
