Obituary

Gary Pruitt Stone, 77, of Summerville, husband of 54 years to Dolores Thompson Stone died Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Kindred Hospital, Charleston.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11 o’clock at Bethany United Methodist Church, Summerville. Burial will be held on Sunday at 2 o’clock at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Route 1, Ware Shoals, SC. After the burial, friends are invited to the home of Jane Stone, 150 West Main Street, Donalds, SC.
Visitation will he held at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o’clock this evening.
Gary was born February 13, 1931 in Carteret, New Jersey, a son of the late Foster Marshall Stone and Margaret Pruitt Stone. He was a graduate of Donalds High School, Donalds, SC and he attended Erskine College in Due West, SC. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Hardie Party Coffee Club, Masonic Independent Lodge in Donalds, SC, the Korean Veterans, Washington Light Infintry and Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He worked 35 years with the Charleston Air Force Base and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.

Brother: Charles F. Stone and his wife Annette of Donalds, SC
Sister-in-law: Jennie Ray and her husband Gary of Greenville, SC
Nephews and Nieces: Michael Stone, of Honea Path, SC; Michael, Daniel, John and Amy Stone all of Honea Path, SC; Richard and Dollie Morrell of Latta, SC; Austin and Chandler Morrell of Latta, SC; Rich and Margaret Scott of Pawley’s Island, SC; Stone Scott of Pawleys Island, SC; Michael and Jennifer Ray of Lexington, SC; Jacob and Audrey Ray of Lexington, SC; Andrew and Emily Ray of Anderson, SC; Wallace Ray of Anderson, SC; Ray and Melanie Watson of Donalds, SC; Maggie and Ellie Watson of Donalds, SC; Gary and Julie Stone of Due West, SC.
He was predeceased by his brother: Louis M. Stone; Brother-in-law, Eddie Rice and father-in-law: Wallace Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Bethany United Methodist Church of Summerville, The American Cancer Society (5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406), or the Friends of the Hunley (Warren Lasch Conservation Center, 1250 Supply Street, Building 255, Former Charleston Navy Base, North Charleston, South Carolina 29405).
