Methuen, MA – Clare P. (Penney) Coelho 77, died October 22nd at the Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Clare was born in Lawrence, and was a 1947 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Lawrence. Mrs. Coelho was born Clare Penney, daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Clare (Dalton) Penney.
For more than 30 years she had been employed as a Discloser Officer working for the Internal Revenue Service.
Mrs. Coelho was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church, and enjoyed traveling to Ireland because it was so dear to her.
A 45 year resident of Methuen she is survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald J. Coelho.
Mrs. Coelho is survived by children; Thomas R. and his longtime companion Evelyn Felch of Salisbury, MA, and Maureen C. and her husband Alan F. Iwen of Methuen, one sister Violet Joy of Salem, NH, five grandchildren: Jennifer and Thomas R. Coelho, Samantha, Alexandra, and Justin Iwen. Three greatgrandchildren Tyler, Thomas, and Anthony, nephew Augustine Cleary, niece Robyn Strassell, and nephew Brian Cleary.
Clare was predeceased by her daughter Donna M. Coelho.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church with burial to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
