New Bedford –Rita (Magnant) McDonald, age 79, died Monday, October 20, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital unexpectedly. She was the wife of the late Wilfred Herman "Barney" McDonald. She was the mother of Alfred McDonald of New Bedford, the grandmother of Joshua McDonald. Mrs. McDonald was the cousin of Lucille Allain. She was the sister of the late George Magnant. She also was survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mc Donald was a daughter of the late Theobald and Helene (Daigle) Magnant. She was born in New Bedford, and lived in this area all of her life. Mrs. Mc Donald was employed as a shipper at States Nitewear. She was a Communicant of St. Joseph/ St. Therese Parish. She was a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society of her parish, also did volunteer work at her parish. She enjoyed being with family and friends.
Mrs. Mc Donald’ s Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
