Wiley L. Branam, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Thursday, October 23 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Wilburn Wiley officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Branam was born December 17, 1929 in Irwin County to the late George Lee and Vermont “Lena” Smith Branam. He lived in Fitzgerald for the past forty-one years from Ocilla. Mr. Branam was a farmer, a minister, having served congregations in Milan and Jacksonville, GA, a former mechanic for International Tractor in Fitzgerald and Ocilla and worked in maintenance at Modern Fibers. He was a member of Liberty Emmanuel Holiness Church Of Jesus Christ.
Mr. Branam is survived by his wife of 56 years, Earline B. Branam of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law-Jerry Lee & Beverly Branam of Irwinville; daughters & sons-in-law, Shirley Jalaine & Gerald Hulett of Bowling Green, KY and Merilda Wylene & James Hood of Fitzgerald; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; sisters & brother-in-law, Pauline & Walter Hulett of Jacksonville, GA; brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Polly Branam of Valdosta and Clifton & Ruth Branam of Cordele as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Statham.
