DRACUT - Joseph "Roland" Breton, 81, a resident of Dracut, died Tuesday October 21st at Radius Northwood HealthCare Center in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of Claire L. (Joyce) Breton to whom he has been married for 55 years.
He was born in Lowell on August 17, 1927, and he was the son of the late Joseph Dennis and Exilia (Lantagne) Breton. He received his education in Lowell schools, and he was a graduate of the former St. Joseph High School in Lowell.
Mr. Breton served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was employed for 25 years by Raytheon Corp. in Bedford and Tewksbury.
In his free time he enjoyed playing golf, and traveling with his wife across the United States in their motor home.
He was a communicant of St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, NH, and he was a member of the former CMAC, and the Town Travelers Square Dancing Club, both in Lowell.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Irene Morin and her husband Donald of Andover, two sisters-in-law Rita Levesque of Portsmouth, RI, and Dorothy Urbowicz and her husband Ted of Lansing, MI; nieces and nephews Fran Murphy and her husband Pat of Lunenburg, Barbara Noyes of Plymouth, NH, Ken Breton and his wife Denise of Merrimack, NH, Michael Breton and his wife Janyce of Dracut, Denise Lcuyer and her husband Don of Merrimack, NH, Donna Staples and her husband Vaughn of Windham, ME, JoAnn Moore of New Bedford, Paula Younes and her husband Paul of New Bedford, Betty Lewis of Lansing, MI, Wayne Calnan of Lansing, MI, Donald, David, Michael, and Jeanne Mello, all of NH, Tom Joyce and his wife Debbie of Tyngsboro, and Linda Shields, and Carol Richard, both of NH; and many great nieces, and great nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Lillian Marie Azevedo, Edgar Breton, Raymond Breton, and Sr. Lena Breton of the Grey Nuns of Montreal.
Calling hours have been omitted. His funeral will be held from the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT, on Friday at 9 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 AM at St. Kathryn Church in Hudson, NH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery in Chelmsford. Relatives and friends are invited.
