Obituary

In Taunton, October 19, 2008 Rita G. Harpin died after a brief illness at the age of 91. Rita was the wife of the late Arthur Harpin. She was born in Boston to her late parents Peter & Julia (McCarthy) Greene. Rita has lived in Taunton since 1963 and lived in Hopedale and Boston prior to that. Rita was a restaurant owner in Clinton prior to 1963. She attended Milford schools and graduated from Milford High School in 1935. Rita was a eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Church, volunteered at Morton Hospital in the Pastoral Care Dept., St. Mary’s Womens Guild, Greater Taunton Gaelic Society, Queens Daughters and the Friends of Taunton Public Library. Rita was also a lover of classical music and an avid Red Sox fan. She was also honored as a recipient of the Marian Medal at St. Mary’s Church. Rita leaves her son Kevin Harpin and his wife Jane of Taunton. Her Grandchildren Jake & Michelle Harpin of CA. Sister of Peter James Greene of Hopedale and the late Frances Hennessey, Eileen Woods and John Greene. She is also survived by several neices and nephews. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St. in Taunton on Thursday, October 23rd at 10am. followed by Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church in Taunton at 11am. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Weds. from 4-7pm. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Taunton.
